Cut Length Calculator

Formulas
OD = ID + 2 × C/S
Cut Length = (ID + C/S) × π

Uses the center diameter of the cord for all calculations.

Enter any two of the four dimensions below (ID, OD, C/S, Cut Length), then click Calculate.

Units:
Enter any two values and click Calculate. Once two inputs are provided, the remaining fields will be locked and solved.

Length Conversion

Convert between common length units — inches, feet, millimeters, and meters.

Enter a value, choose from/to units, and click Convert.

Durometer Conversion

Formula
Shore D ≈ (Shore A − 12.5) / 0.963
Shore A ≈ Shore D × 0.963 + 12.5

Approximation per ASTM D2240. Results may vary by material.

Convert between Shore A and Shore D hardness scales. Results are approximate — accuracy varies by material and compound.

Enter a Shore A or Shore D value and click Convert.

Compression % Calculator

Formula
Compression % = ((C/S − Groove Depth) / C/S) × 100

Target range: 15–30% for most static sealing applications.

Calculate the compression percentage of a seal given the groove depth and cord cross-section. Most elastomeric seals perform best at 15–30% compression — above 30% risks extrusion or permanent set.

Units:
Enter groove depth and cord C/S diameter, then click Calculate.

Fraction → Decimal

Convert fractional inch dimensions to decimal inches and millimeters. Select from common sealing cord sizes below or enter your own.

Enter a numerator and select a denominator, then click Convert.
